Percutaneous dissolution of uric acid calculi with THAM irrigation.

We describe two patients suffering from uric acid calculi; one had uremia due to obstruction in one kidney, and the other retained fragments after percutaneous nephrolithotomy. They were successfully treated by irrigation of a THAM (tris-hydroxy-methyl-aminomethane) solution through percutaneous nephrostomy.[1]
