Comparative formation of chlorophenol metabolites from hexachlorocyclohexane in mouse and rat in vivo and in vitro.

Comparative formation of chlorophenol metabolites were evaluated in hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) fed mouse and rat livers by h.p.l.c. No significant species differences were noted in the formation of chlorophenol metabolites studied both in vivo and in vitro. The results indicate that the marked species difference that is observed in tumor induction between mice and rats by HCH may not be due to the different rate of formation of chlorophenol metabolites.[1]
