In vitro and in vivo comparison of single-donor platelets and multiple-donor pooled platelets transfusions in leukemic patients.

In vitro and in vivo studies were done to evaluate efficacy of fresh, single donor platelets (SDP) obtained by Latham-bowl plateletpheresis and multiple donor, pooled platelets ( MDPP) obtained by conventional centrifugation for transfusion of leukemic patients. Results indicate increased effectiveness, both in vitro and in vivo, of single donor platelets as compared to multiple donor pooled platelets.[1]
