Sarcocystis infection in pigs of Hissar, Haryana, India and its transmission to dogs.

Sarcocystis zoites were found in pepsin digests of 68.8% of 157 pigs from Hissar, Haryana. Sarcocystis-infected meat was fed to 4 young dogs and 2 cats. The dogs shed Sarcocystis sporocysts in their faeces 12 days after eating infected meat whereas cats did not shed sporocysts.[1]
