Triterpenoid saponins from the aerial parts of Lonicera japonica.

Two new triterpenoid saponins, loniceroside A and B, were isolated from the aerial parts of Lonicera japonica. Their structures were established as 3-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranosyl hederagenin 28-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1-->2)-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl(1-->6)]-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester and 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1-->2)-alpha-L-arabinopyranosyl hederagenin 28-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1-->2)-[beta-D- xylopyranosyl(1-->6)]-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester, respectively.[1]
