Composition of the coagulant polysaccharide fraction from Strychnos potatorum seeds.

The composition of the coagulant polysaccharide fraction from Strychnos potatorum seeds is described. This fraction comprises a 1:1.7 mixture of a galactomannan and a galactan. The structure of these polysaccharides is also discussed. In addition, the coagulant properties of the polysaccharide fractions of two other Strychnos species, innocua and nux-vomica, have been assayed.[1]
