Sequence analysis of the 5.34-kb 5' flanking region of the human rhodopsin-encoding gene.

In order to define elements which may be involved in regulating human rhodopsin expression, we have isolated and sequenced a clone containing 5.34 kb of the 5'-upstream region of the human rhodopsin-encoding gene. The 5.34-kb human segment contains multiple potential transcription factor-binding sites and a subfamily of Alu repeats. The same subfamily of Alu repeats is found 5.8 kb upstream from the human red/green visual pigment-encoding gene.[1]
