The nitrogenous pi -acceptor ligand 4-cyanopyridine (4CNPy) exhibits reversible ligation to ferrous heme in the flavocytochrome P450 BM3 (Kd=1.8 microm for wild type P450 BM3) via its pyridine ring nitrogen [1].
The enzyme was useful for the mild hydrolysis of nicotinonitrile, isonicotinonitrile and benzonitrile [2].
The kinetics of the electron transfer reactions between S(2)O(8)(2-) and the complexes (Ru(NH(3))(5)L)(2+) (L = pyridine, pyrazine, and 4-cyanopyridine) have been studied in micellar (SDS) solutions [3].
