The Bax protein is dormant in the cytosol of normal cells and is activated upon induction of apoptosis [1].
RESULTS: Transfection of HK-2 cells, shown to be exquisitely sensitive to Stx, with siRNA duplexes successfully diminished Bak, but not Bax protein expression [2].
The Bax protein was an in vitro substrate for specific serine/threonine protein kinases [3].
