Disease relevance of oriV

The role of the oriV sequences in the replication of pRK2 in A. tumefaciens and in E. coli is discussed [1].
This vector, designed to introduce genomic libraries into plants, contains the oriV of the Ri plasmid pRiHR1 by which it replicates perfectly stably in Agrobacterium [2].
It has been shown that plasmid pORI6 (containing oriV of pTAV3 cloned into plasmid pABW1, which does not replicate in Paracoccus spp.) can be trans activated not only by pTAV3, but also by pKLW2 [3].

High impact information on oriV

Two regions of RK2, the origin of replication (oriV) and a segment that encodes for a replication protein (trfA delta kilD, designated trfA*), are sufficient for replication in all nine species tested [4].
A probable origin of replication (oriV) was proposed to be localized at the 3' terminal end of the repC' gene [5].

Biological context of oriV

The two deletions have lost 56 and 505 bp, respectively, near the origin of replication (oriV) [1].
Progressive subcloning of S-factor DNA, in conjunction with assays of plasmid transfer, led to the localization and identification of oriV (IncA), IncB, and the putative oriT locus [6].
