Disease relevance of N

High impact information on N

  • Interactions and nuclear import of the N and P proteins of sonchus yellow net virus, a plant nucleorhabdovirus [2].
  • Using immunolocalization and a lipophilic fluorescent dye, we show that the sites of the relocalized membranes were coincident with foci of accumulation of the SYNV nucleocapsid protein [3].
  • Two specific cleavage products of the nucleocapsid protein estimated to be 21,000 and 37,000 Mr appeared in N. benthamiana-infected protoplasts by 60 hr PI, but in the presence of tunicamycin, the cleavage products were evident by 38 hr [4].

Biological context of N

  • Expression studies with plant and yeast cells revealed that both N and P are capable of independent nuclear import [2].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of N

  • Site-specific mutagenesis and deletion analyses demonstrated that N contains a carboxy-terminal bipartite nuclear localization signal (NLS) located between amino acids 465 and 481 and that P contains a karyophillic region between amino acids 40 and 124 [2].
