Disease relevance of pol

The human foamy virus or spumaretrovirus (HFV) is a complex retrovirus that has the capacity to code not only for the three retroviral genes gag, pol, and env but, in addition, for at least three bel genes [1].

High impact information on pol

It showed a high degree of amino acid sequence homology of 54.3% when compared with the 5'-terminal part of the pol gene product of the murine retrotransposon LIMd [2].
It is flanked by long terminal repeats (LTRs) and encodes the genes gag, pol, env, the transcriptional transactivator taf, and a second 3' open reading frame (orf-2) [3].
DNA sequences of molecular clones derived from the pol, env, and orf-2 genes of SFV-6 are almost identical to those of SFVcpz [3].

Other interactions of pol

Amino acid homologies between corresponding genes of SFVcpz and HFV range between 86% for the taf gene and 95% for the pol gene [3].
