In the prospect of drawing a fine-scale integrated map of the area containing KRN1 and OMP, we have established a framework of markers by hybridization to DNA of somatic cell hybrids and by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) on metaphase chromosomes [1].
The sequence of 11p15.5 is termed KRN1-like (KRN1L) [2].
A human hair cuticle ultrahigh-sulphur keratin Q (UHSK) gene (KRN1) has been mapped by Southern analysis of a somatic cell hybrid panel and by in situ hybridization [2].
The results reveal that the cuticle UHSK gene family is clustered in the human genome [2].
