Jelly belly: a Drosophila LDL receptor repeat-containing signal required for mesoderm migration and differentiation [1].
Recent biochemical reconstitution and high-resolution crystal structures have provided proof that rhomboid proteins function as novel intramembrane proteases, with a serine protease-like catalytic apparatus embedded within the membrane bilayer, buried in a hydrophilic cavity formed by a protein ring [2].
The genomic clone was localized to the polytene chromosome region 99C-D, although genome-blotting experiments indicated the existence of several other genes related to the cloned serine protease-like genes [3].
Toll-like receptor-4 is expressed by macrophages in murine and human lipid-rich atherosclerotic plaques and upregulated by oxidized LDL [4].
