In vitro efficacy of the combination of ciprofloxacin and cefotaxime against Vibrio vulnificus.

We performed time-kill studies of antimicrobial combinations that included minocycline, cefotaxime, and ciprofloxacin with Vibrio vulnificus ATCC 27562. Cefotaxime-plus-ciprofloxacin combinations acted synergistically against V. vulnificus in vitro, and this combination regimen can be a good choice as the empirical treatment for suspected necrotizing fasciitis due to V. vulnificus.[1]
