The biological effects of fluoride on tooth development: possible use of cell culture systems.

The action of fluoride on tooth development and the observed side-effects of fluorosis are not yet fully understood. The authors briefly review the literature relating to hypotheses on dental fluorosis and describe in vitro cell culture techniques which could help to clarify the biological effect of fluoride on dental pulpal cells.[1]
