Centrosome maturation: Aurora lights the way to the poles.

The centrosome is the main microtubule organising centre in the cell. During mitosis, centrosomes dramatically increase microtubule nucleating activity, enabling them to form a mitotic spindle. Recent studies show that Aurora A kinase promotes microtubule assembly from centrosomes through the phosphorylation of the conserved centrosomal protein TACC.[1]
