Cephradine and flucloxacillin in the prophylaxis of infection in patients with open fractures.

A comparison of prophylactic antibiotic cover of cephradine or flucloxacillin in sixty patients with open fractures is reported. There were more infections in the flucloxacillin than in the cephradine group and gastrointestinal side-effects were more common. The overall incidence of infection in the whole group, two out of 60 or 3.3%, was acceptably low.[1]
