Dissecting ventricular septal aneurysm after open-heart surgery.

Pseudoaneurysm of the muscular ventricular septum has been reported after myocardial infarction and after transaortic septal myotomy. In our case, surgical repair for infundibular pulmonary stenosis and membranous ventricular septal defect ( VSD) was complicated by a dissecting ventricular septal aneurysm with VSD. Echocardiography was the only diagnostic procedure that could demonstrate the lesion. ECG and body surface mapping suggested a local septal infarction, its etiology most probably due to the closing sutures of the initial VSD.[1]
