Toxic effects of bleomycin on the hypothalamus following its administration into a cystic craniopharyngioma.

A 48-year-old man with a cystic craniopharyngioma developed hypersomnia, personality changes, memory impairment and thermal dysfunction following intracystic administration of bleomycin through an Ommaya reservoir after partial removal of the tumour. The patient's neurological deterioration was thought to be related to the toxic effects of bleomycin on the hypothalamus.[1]
