Transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder was induced in F344 rats by intragastric intubation of the animals with the known bladder carcinogen N-nitroso-N-methyl-N-dodecylamine (NMDA) [1].

Nitrosomethyl-n-dodecylamine, a product of the reaction of dimethyl-n-dodecylamine with nitrous acid, was given to Sprague-Dawley rats by gavage in olive oil solution [2].
We have determined the extent of DNA methylation in these tissues following a single oral dose (0.1 mmol/kg; 6 h survival) of each of 12 homologues, ranging from N-nitrosodimethylamine (C1) to N-nitrosomethyldodecylamine (C12) [3].
