Disease relevance of bkdB

The nucleotide sequence of bkdB, the structural gene for E2b, the transacylase component of branched-chain-oxoacid dehydrogenase of Pseudomonas putida has been determined and translated into its amino acid sequence [1].

High impact information on bkdB

Ttg1 and Ttg2 are ATP binding cassette (ABC) transporter homologs; Ttg3 is a periplasmic linker protein of a toluene efflux pump; both Ttg4 and Ttg7 are pyruvate dehydrogenase; Ttg5 is a dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase; and Ttg7 is the negative regulator of the phosphate regulon [2].
There was no intergenic space between bkdA2 and bkdB [1].
The bkdB gene encoded 423 amino acids although the N-terminal methionine was absent from E2b prepared from P. aeruginosa [1].
