  • One such locus, GGTA1P, a processed (intronless) pseudogene (PPG), is present in platyrrhines, i.e., New World monkeys, and catarrhines but not in prosimians [1].
  • To establish that these sequences represent a human homologue of alpha 1----3-galactosyltransferase, we have used the bovine cDNA as a probe to isolate two nonoverlapping clones (HGT-2 and HGT-10) from a human genomic DNA library [2].
  • We have now established that the former sequence (GGTA1P) is localized to 12q14-q15 and the latter sequence (GGTA1) is localized to 9q33-q34 [corrected] [3].
