High impact information on GBP2

  • Among the most abundant antiviral proteins induced by interferon-gamma are guanylate-binding proteins such as GBP1 and GBP2 [1].
  • Of these, five are similar to ETS (expression tagged sequences) from unknown genes; the other two show significant homology to the cDNAs of ubiquitin and human guanylate binding protein 2 (GBP-2) [2].
  • Analysis of the additional costs to the NHS, depending on the rate of change from benzodiazepine prescriptions to Z-drug prescriptions, at current levels of hypnotic prescribing, range from GBP2 million to GBP17 million per year [3].

Biological context of GBP2

  • Both hGBP1 and hGBP2 failed to hydrolyze GDP, however, GDP was an effective inhibitor of the hGBP2- but not the hGBP1-catalyzed GTP hydrolysis reaction [4].

Other interactions of GBP2

  • Our data suggest that the GBP family of genes contains members other than the previously characterized GBP1 and GBP2 [5].
