Disease relevance of DSC2

  • The patient's serum showed reactivity with human desmocollin and was shown to react with bovine Dsc2 fusion protein, further suggesting the significance of anti-desmocollin autoantibodies in pemphigus [1].

High impact information on DSC2

  • DSC3 expression is strongly basal, DSC2 is strong in 5-10 suprabasal layers, and then weakens to be superseded by strong DSC1 [2].
  • DSC2 is ubiquitously expressed in epithelia and cardiac muscle [2].
  • Expression of glucose transporter 1 was significantly (P < 0.05) higher, and expression of desmocollin 2 and plakophilin tended to be higher (P < 0.1) for in vivo (group 4) compared with in vitro blastocysts (group 1), whereas no differences were found for heat shock protein 70.1, E-cadherin and poly(A) polymerase [3].
