High impact information on tmod

  • We used the Drosophila Tmod homologue, sanpodo (spdo), to investigate Tmod's function during muscle development in the indirect flight muscle [1].
  • Although pointed-end capping by Tmod controls thin filament lengths in assembled myofibrils, its role in length specification during de novo myofibril assembly is not established [1].
  • Genetic interaction studies show that sanpodo is epistatic to numb. sanpodo encodes a homolog of tropomodulin, an actin/tropomyosin-associated protein [2].
  • In contrast, the differentiated progeny of neural precursor cells are usually the result of a fixed pattern of asymmetric cell divisions which are directed, in part, by interactions between numb, a localized intracellular-receptor protein, sanpodo (spdo), a potential tropomodulin homolog, and Notch, a transmembrane receptor protein [3].
