The genomic organization of a novel regulatory myosin light chain gene (MYL5) that maps to chromosome 4p16.3 and shows different patterns of expression between primates [1].
We report here the identification and characterization of a gene (MYL5) that encodes a novel regulatory myosin light chain isoprotein and maps 700 kb from the human chromosome 4p telomere [1].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of MYL5

In contrast to PDEF, RT-PCR analysis of the expression of the other three cDNAs, including MYL5, Hs.44017, and Hs.215937, showed that these cDNAs are expressed in several normal human tissues [2].
