High impact information on HHT1

  • Here we show that SIN2 is identical to HHT1, one of the two genes coding for histone H3, and that mutations in either can result in a Sin- phenotype [1].
  • An initial screen of meiotically expressed yeast genes revealed several genes associated with chromosome metabolism (e.g., RAD51 and HHT1 as well as others) [2].
  • Finally, BUR5 is identical to HHT1, encoding histone H3, further implicating chromatin structure as important for expression of SUC2 [3].
  • DNA sequencing has also shown that the K. lactis TRP1 sequence is flanked by genes encoding inorganic pyrophosphatase and histone H3, which we have designated IPP and HHT1 respectively [4].
