High impact information on mexC

  • The mexC and oprJ products are putative lipoproteins of a molecular mass of 40,707 and 51,742 Da, respectively, while mexD was predicted to encode a protein of 111 936 Da [1].
  • Sequencing upstream of mexC revealed the presence of the nfxB gene transcribed divergently from the efflux genes [1].
  • Resistance to beta-lactam and FQ was correlated with ampC and mexC gene expression levels, respectively, whereas imipenem resistance was attributable to decreased oprD expression [2].
  • Using fusions to gfp, we were able to analyze spatial and temporal expression of mexA and mexC in the developing biofilm [3].
