Disease relevance of TCL1B

The MTCP1/TCL1/TCL1b oncogene activation is the hallmark of human T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (T-PLL), a form of adult leukemia [1].

High impact information on TCL1B

These findings from transgenic experiments together with deletion mapping studies using transfected human placental cells indicate that the concerted interaction of strong placenta-specific enhancers and silencers within this 501-bp region mediate labyrinthine and syncytiotrophoblast-specific CYP19 gene expression [2].
The latter cell fraction was equally comprised predominantly of syncytiotrophoblasts at early, mid-, and late gestation as determined by extensive immunocytochemical reactivity with antisera to syncytiotrophoblast-specific peptides [3].
Thus, a direct correlation exists between the appearance of this syncytiotrophoblast-specific protein and hCS enhancer activity [4].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of TCL1B

All three preparations yielded morphologically similar STBM, as confirmed by scanning electron microscopy, and all contained syncytiotrophoblast-specific proteins as determined by the presence of placental alkaline phosphatase [5].
