Coxsackievirus A21 (CAV21) is classified within the species Human enterovirus C (HEV-C) of the Enterovirus genus of picornaviruses [1].
Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis caused by coxsackievirus A24 variant, South Korea, 2002 [2].
Conjunctival swabs from the most recently affected eyes were collected from 20 random patients and processed for antigen detection in direct smears, for adenovirus, enterovirus (EV70) and coxsackievirus A24 variant and adenovirus isolation by culture [3].
