High frequency of serious infections in patients with panhypopituitarism: a case-control study.

We reviewed the records of 65 patients with panhypopituitarism ( PHP) for the frequency and types of infections requiring hospitalization, and documented serious infections in 13 of 65 patients with PHP. The increased frequency of serious infectious diseases in patients with PHP is likely to contribute to increased age-specific mortality.[1]
