A daughter of bradykinin that protects against septicaemia.

When the defence response of the body to infectious bacteria fails, septic shock ensues with hypotension and death. RPPGF,(1-5)-bradykinin, was until recently considered to be an active metabolite of bradykinin. In an animal model of septicaemia (lipopolysaccharide administration to rats), RPPGF is protective, and can even prolong life. RPPGF, or stable mimetics, have potential in the treatment of septic shock.[1]
