Removal of the tert-butyloxycarbonyl group, followed by reaction with N-maleoylglycine and DCC/HOBt in methylene chloride, gave cyclic tetrapeptide 5 in 68% yield [2].
All these analogues were synthesized with a free amino terminus (H derivatives) and with a N-terminal tert-butyloxycarbonyl group (Boc derivatives) [3].
A simple protection-deprotection sequence, followed by an oxidation and a reductive cyclization, led to protected 2-amino-delta-lactams bearing a tert-butyloxycarbonyl group on the amine functionality [4].
