In micromolar concentrations, Cd2+ acted as a noncompetitive, partial inhibitor of methyl-D-glucopyranoside uptake in vesicles from COS-7 cells transiently expressing SGLT1 [1].
The absorption of water, ions and glucose was then monitored in vivo, and the uptake of phenylalanine and beta methyl-glucoside by slices of mucosa was determined in vitro [2].
