The trfB region of broad host range plasmid RK2: the nucleotide sequence reveals incC and key regulatory gene trfB/korA/korD as overlapping genes [1].
Thus the trfB incC korB operon of RK2 is doubly autogeneously regulated [2].
The product of the incC gene has been proposed to function in the stable maintenance of RK2 because of its relatedness to the ParA family of ATPases, some of which are known to be involved in the active partition of plasmid and chromosomal DNA [3].
Using promoter fusions to the reporter gene xylE, we show that incC potentiates the repression of transcription by korB [4].
The ability of IncC to stabilize KorB-DNA complexes suggests that these two proteins work together in the global regulation of many operons on the IncP-1 genomes, as well in plasmid partitioning [4].

Biological context of incC

We present a model of KorB, including the structure of its dimerization domain, and discuss its interactions with the highly basic ParA homolog IncC [5].
