Disease relevance of petE

The petE gene encoding plastocyanin precursor protein from the cyanobacterium Anabaena PCC 7937 was introduced in the cyanobacterial host strain Synechococcus PCC 7942 [1].
The petE gene is a 420-bp open reading frame that encodes a protein 70 to 75% similar to plastocyanins from other cyanobacteria [2].
The Anabaena PCC 7937 petE gene in Synechococcus was expressed to a high level upon induction with IPTG as shown by RNA and immunoblot analysis [3].

High impact information on petE

Under similar conditions, the amount of petE message in the wild type decreases by 50% in the 1st h, but then increases dramatically to almost three times the 37 degrees C level by 9 h [2].
