Here, we compared human GSDML-GSDM locus with rodent genomes by using bioinformatics [1].
The GSDML (gasdermin-like protein) gene located on human chromosome 17q21 has been found to be an oncogenomic recombination hotspot [2].
A reporter gene assay of the promoter activity of the LTR on the GSDML gene in human cancer cell lines (HCT-116 and HeLa) and a kidney cell line (Cos7) of African green monkey indicated that the LTR promoter with reverse orientation had stronger promoter activity than forward one [2].

Biological context of GSDML

Rat Gsdm gene, consisting of 12 exons, encoded a 446-amino-acid protein, which showed 86.3% and 32.3% total-amino-acid identities with human GSDM and GSDML, respectively [1].
