Disease relevance of NEK9

High impact information on NEK9

  • Nek9, a novel FACT-associated protein, modulates interphase progression [2].
  • When complexed with FACT, Nek9 exhibits markedly elevated phosphorylation on Thr(210) [2].
  • Cell cycle analysis on the Nek9(dsRNAi) cells directly implicated Nek9 in maintaining proper G(1) and S progression, a role temporally correlated to the formation of a phospho-Nek9-FACT complex [2].
  • These findings support the conclusion that Nercc1/Nek9 and Nek6 represent a novel cascade of mitotic NIMA family protein kinases whose combined function is important for mitotic progression [3].
  • Nek6, Nek7 and Nek9 also seem to regulate mitosis [1].

Biological context of NEK9

  • Nek8 has high homology to the Nek family kinase domain as well as to a regulator of chromosome condensation domain (RCC1), which is also present in Nek9 [4].
  • Systems were generally able to achieve design criteria of 25 mg TSS/L and 30 mg BOD5/L and the NERCC CWs required only 0.3 m of unsaturated soil to achieve consistent disinfection to <200 fecals/100 mL year round [5].
