Adults with schizophrenia who smoked more than 10 cigarettes per day and wished to try to quit smoking were recruited from community mental health centers, enrolled in a 12-week group cognitive behavioral therapy intervention, and randomly assigned to receive either bupropion sustained-release 300 mg/d or identical placebo [1].
Seven community mental health centers in New Hampshire provided both types of treatment [2].
METHODS: The patients were 31 clients of community mental health centers who had received risperidone for at least three months and for whom there were at least three months of available data on medication use and costs prior to risperidone treatment [3].
At follow-up, 89% of the CMHC clients were panic free and a substantial proportion of the sample successfully discontinued benzodiazepine use [4].
In January, 1981, Central State Hospital and eight Community Mental Health Centers within the Hospital's Service Area formed a Task Force for the purpose of strengthening linkages [5].
