High impact information on Zeatin riboside

  • Standard curves which consisted of logit/log plots of fluorescence units versus picomoles of competing cytokinin measured from 0.03 to 256 pmol (approximately 10-85,000 picograms) of zeatin riboside (ZR) or isopentenyl adenosine [1].
  • ZR is induced by low TDZ concentrations (0.0-0.005 micromol/L), whereas iP, that correlates with massive cell proliferation and the onset of shoot differentiation, is associated with high TDZ levels (0.5 micromol/L) [2].
  • Although trans-zeatin riboside (ZR), the most abundant cytokinin in squash xylem sap, had a concentration-dependent effect similar to that of total squash xylem sap, ZR concentrations several orders of magnitude greater than those found endogenously in squash xylem sap (i.e. 2 x 10(-8) M) were required to affect the growth of BY-2 cell protoplasts [3].
  • In submitochondrial particles (smp), zeatin was only weakly active, and zeatin riboside (ZR) was inactive [4].
  • Zeatin, ribosylzeatin, N6-isopentenyladenosine and 2-methylthio-ribosylzeatin in the top of tobacco plants were quantitated by mass spectrometry using deuterium-labeled standards [5].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of Zeatin riboside

  • These facts and others discussed strongly support our suggestion that ribosylzeatin was present in the preparation ("cytokinesin I") examined by Wood and colleagues in several biological assays [6].
