High impact information on 19-Hydroxycholesterol

Planar oriented membranes of 1-palmitoyl, 2-oleoyl-phosphatidylcholine (POPC) containing cholesterol, 19-hydroxycholesterol, 22S-hydroxycholesterol, or 25-hydroxycholesterol in concentrations up to 5 mol % were investigated with angle-resolved fluorescence depolarization and electron spin resonance measurements [1].
The cytotoxicity of the oxysterols 25-hydroxycholesterol, 7beta-hydroxycholesterol, cholesterol-5alpha,6alphaepoxide, cholesterol-5beta,6beta-epoxide, 19-hydroxycholesterol and 7-ketocholesterol was examined in U937 cells, a human monocytic blood cell line [2].
25-Hydroxycholesterol, cholesterol-5alpha,6beta-epoxide and 19-hydroxycholesterol (30 micromol/L) did not induce apoptosis in this cell line [2].

Associations of 19-Hydroxycholesterol with other chemical compounds

Sickle RBC membranes had a higher concentration of 5 alpha,6 alpha-epoxycholesterol, 5 alpha-cholestane-3 beta,5,6 beta-triol, 7-ketocholesterol and 19-hydroxycholesterol than normal RBC membranes [3].
