These results indicated the participation of a microsomal electron transport system in the dehydrogenation of cholest-7-en-3beta-ol [2].

The conversion of cholest-5-en-3beta-ol into cholest-7-en-3beta-ol by the echinoderms Asterias rubens and Solaster papposus [3].
Very small amounts of a component having the chromatographic properties of 5 alpha-cholest-7-en-3 beta-ol were found in whole retinas, but not in rod outer segment membranes [4].
