Disease relevance of orf5

The products of two other ORFs showed similarity to GlnP of Escherichia coli (orf1) and beta-glucosidase A of B. polymyxa (orf5) [1].

High impact information on orf5

The direction of transcription of the gene 1 to orf 5 operon and the length of the mRNAs was determined [2].
For the putative translation products of orf4, orf5, and orf6, on the other hand, no homologous sequences were found [3].
The product of orf5 contains a zinc-finger motif and an ATP-binding domain, and is highly similar to the product of the Escherichia coli sms gene [4].
A strain bearing a disruption of orf5 showed increased sensitivity to the alkylating agent methyl methanesulfonate [4].
Sequence similarity to previously sequenced genes suggested that the products of orf4 and orf5 may work together to transport a molecule such as aspartate ion that may promote osmotolerance [5].
