Disease relevance of Igk-V

  • New Zealand black lupus mice, with unknown genetic derivation, had a possibly recombinant Igk-V haplotype, composed of V kappa loci that were primarily indistinguishable from those of nonautoimmune strains from either of the two potential donor haplotypes [1].

High impact information on Igk-V

  • The germline Igk-V genes display different lengths of the coding region 3' of Cys 88 ranging from 7 to 12 amino acids, resulting in CDR3 length heterogeneity among functional V(kappa)J(kappa) sequences ranging from 8 to 15 amino acids [2].
  • Related mouse Igk-V gene families were conserved in the promoter region but no similarity was evident when promoters from unrelated Igk-V gene families were compared [3].
  • Detailed mapping of the Igk locus indicates that a member of the Igk-V2 gene family, located about 3.5 megabases upstream of the Igk-J-C complex, is the most distal functional Igk-V gene [4].
  • Sequence analyses of Igk-V genes and anonymous DNA segments provide indications for internal duplications at the 5' end of the Igk-V locus and identify the likely origin of Igk-V orphon gene clusters located elsewhere in the mouse genome [4].
  • Furthermore, the 5' boundaries of somatic hypermutation and the 5' peak of germline nucleotide insertions and deletions coincide in IghV (Rothenfluh et al. 1993, 1994; Rogerson 1994) and in IgkV (Rogerson 1994; Rada et al. 1994, and analyses herein) [5].

Biological context of Igk-V

Other interactions of Igk-V

  • We have identified and characterized a novel mouse Igk-V gene family, which we have designated Igk-V34 [7].
