High impact information on COL3

  • A green fluorescent protein-COL3 fusion protein colocalizes with COP1 to nuclear speckles when transiently expressed in plant cells [1].
  • Unlike constans, the col3 mutant flowers early and shows a reduced number of lateral branches in short days [1].
  • Further analysis demonstrated that these are most similar to CO-like genes AtCOL3/AtCOL4/AtCOL5, a group of Arabidopsis genes closely related to, but distinct from CO, suggesting that the CO branch of the AtCOL phylogeny does not exist in the Physcomitrella genome [2].

Other interactions of COL3

  • Here, we identify CONSTANS-LIKE3 (COL3) as a novel interaction partner of COP1 [1].
