Disease relevance of TAF11

  • Saccharomyces cerevisiae (P6), Candida guilliermondii (P40), Lactobacillus plantarum (B31 and La18) and L. brevis (B21) showed good performance, while Sacch. fructuum (P43), L. cellobiosus (B37) and Enterococcus faecium (B11) yielded bread of lower quality [1].

High impact information on TAF11

  • Here we show that mutations in the yeast TFIID-specific protein Taf40 lead to a general cessation of transcription, even in the presence of excess TBP, suggesting that the TFIID complex is required at most promoters in vivo [2].
  • Unexpectedly, these assembly experiments reveal that TAF11 and TAF13 appear to provide the critical functional contacts with TBP during PIC assembly [3].
  • Cells expressing a TAF11 allele defective for interaction with TFIIA exhibit conditional growth phenotypes and defects in transcription [4].
  • TFIIA interacts with TFIID via association with TATA binding protein (TBP) and TBP-associated factor 11 (TAF11) [4].
  • However, a carboxy-terminal fusion of the TAND and Taf11p is not compatible with several other TAF proteins, including Taf1p, in the TFIID complex [5].

Other interactions of TAF11

  • Mutational analyses of the Toa2 subunit of TFIIA indicate that loss of functional interaction between TFIIA and TAF40 results in conditional growth phenotypes and defects in transcription [6].
