High impact information on chlortetracycline

  • Formyl peptide and lipid chemotactic factors induced similar levels of Ca2+ mobilization when monitored by Quin 2 or chlortetracycline (CTC) fluorescence [1].
  • Addition of GABA to the incubation medium resulted in a concentration-dependent increase in the percentage of CTC forms II and III, corresponding to mid-capacitated and capacitated spermatozoa, respectively [2].
  • Chlortetracycline (CTC) was chosen as a representative tetracycline to demonstrate the method, as it displays intermediate sensitivity among the three tetracyclines approved in the U.S. Comparison of the fluorescence of control and tolerance-level-fortified samples of both ENRO and CTC shows no overlap [3].
  • However, it was not possible to determine whether the changing CTC patterns reflect a true capacitation phenomenon or an intermediate destabilized state of the sperm cell membrane [4].
  • Thus, platelet aggregation, secretion and phospholipid metabolism can be dissociated by the use of two types of divalent cation chelators: EDTA and CTC [5].

Associations of chlortetracycline with other chemical compounds

  • Samples were capacitated with heparin or treated with the xanthine-xanthine oxidase-catalase system (X-XO-C) for the production of O2-. The percentage of capacitated spermatozoa was determined using the chlortetracycline (CTC) technique, by means of epifluorescence microscopy [6].
