High impact information on HBS1L

  • Two genes, cMYB and HBS1L, demonstrated simultaneous transcriptional down-regulation in individuals with elevated HbF levels [1].
  • Transfection of K562 cells encoding human cDNA of cMYB and HBS1L genes showed that, although overexpression of ectopic cMYB inhibited gamma-globin gene expression, overexpression of HBS1L had no effect [1].
  • In contrast, mapping and analysis of c-myb neighboring genes (HBS1 and FLJ20069) showed that the expression of these genes did not correlate well with the presence of proviral insertions [2].
  • The phenotypic characterization of HBS1 demonstrated absence of hippurate hydrolysis, indole production, alpha-galactosidase, alpha- and beta-glucosidase activities in accordance with the B. aalborgi type strain [3].
  • Rapid identification of B. aalborgi isolate HBS1 was performed directly from faeces and rectal biopsies and subsequently from pure cultures by a genetic method based on 16S DNA restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP)-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) [3].

Biological context of HBS1L

  • Northern adapted QPM genotypes may have the potential to increase their lysine content even further, either by an increase in specific high-lysine-containing nonzein proteins, such as the synthesis of factor EF-1a, or by a further reduction in the 19 and 22 kDa alpha-zein in the endosperm or both [4].

Anatomical context of HBS1L

  • In the wheat system, however, both EF-1b and EF-1b' had the EF-Ts-like activity to stimulate EF-1a-dependent binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to ribosomes [5].

Analytical, diagnostic and therapeutic context of HBS1L

  • The new HBS1 isolate was only propagated in TSB broth and at electron microscopy it showed 4 endoflagella inserted at each tapered end [3].
