RNA was extracted from placentae of synpregnant C3H mice (day 14 of gestation) and from A6B9IC5 teratocarcinoma [1].

This corresponds to a possible function in regulation of maternal mRNA translation, a function attributed to related C3H class genes in Caenorhabditis elegans, zebrafish, and Xenopus [2].
TTP, a C3H zinc finger protein gene, is expressed in mouse ovarian oocytes [2].
Northern analysis of mRNA in C3H/He and C57/Bl6 mice revealed that the mNoc gene is expressed in a broad range of tissues, with greatest abundance in liver, kidney and testis. mNoc is also expressed in multiple brain regions including suprachiasmatic nucleus and pineal gland [3].
